On Tuesday, 3 March 2015, an excellent expert and dear friend of CILC, Mr. Bernard Menut, First Vice-President of the International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ), passed away.

Bernard was too young to leave this world. His mission in creating just societies, particularly in connection to enforcement law, was far from over. He was still fully involved in various CILC projects and always presented us new opportunities for cooperation all over the world. Immediately after this year started, destiny struck Bernard very hard. This news was difficult to understand for us, who knew him very well, as it was for all those who worked with Bernard in many enforcement reform projects over the last 8 years.

Bernard was an exceptional person. He was an excellent expert in many fields of law, and of course in particular related to his profession as judicial officer. Bernard combined top professionalism with a much appreciated sense of humor. In the years of his international work in the UIHJ and the many projects he was involved in, many people in various countries crossed his path. They could rely on him as expert and as friend.

It was a privilege to work with and be a friend of Bernard. Adieu, cher ami…
