Position Title: Project Support Intern
Location: The Hague
Duration: 6 months
Start date: 20 April 2026
Reporting to: Project Officer, Project Manager and Senior Project Manager
1. Background
CILC is an international project organization working to strengthen justice sector institutions
and the rule of law worldwide. We design and implement rule of law and security reform
projects in cooperation with governments, international organizations, and local partners
through capacity building and training activities. As part of our project team, we are seeking a
motivated student who is eager to gain practical experience in the field of international project
management and justice sector cooperation.
The internship offers a student the opportunity to develop skills in project planning and
implementation as well as research-to-action approach to international development. The
intern will provide day-to-day support to the project officer and senior project manager in the
implementation of ongoing projects and training activities, primarily in the MENA region, as well as in other regions where CILC is present.
2. Task and Responsibilities
Project Support and Administration
- Preparing and updating project documentation (staff contracts, terms of reference,
timesheets, agendas, etc.).
- Supporting in drafting project reports following diverse donor requirements.
- Supporting preparing background notes, briefings, or summaries to assist project implementation.
- Supporting financial administration tasks such as tracking project expenses and preparing financial overviews.
- Assisting with travel arrangements (booking flights, accommodation, transport).
- Providing in-person support during the implementation of project activities (training sessions, meetings, conferences, etc.)
General Support
- Providing administrative and organizational support to the project team.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date digital records of project files.
- Managing the project page in AFAS (CILC’s digital project management tool) by uploading and organizing documents, contracts, reports, and other materials.
- Organizing and maintaining the project’s physical filing system.
- Providing support to prepare visibility materials.
- Supporting other tasks as required by the project team.
3. Learning objectives
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Develop skills in designing, implementing and monitoring training activities in an international setting.
- Gain insight into the organization and management of international donor-funded projects.
- Develop practical skills in project administration, coordination, and financial tracking.
- Strengthen analytical skills in the field of rule of law and justice cooperation.
- Enhance organizational, communication, and teamwork skills in a professional international environment.
- Start building up your own network of professionals working in the fields of rule of law, justice and security.
4. Required profile
- Enrolled in a relevant (applied) university program.
- Strong interest in international cooperation and development, justice and security sector reforms.
- Good planning, organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word).
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, knowledge of other languages, such as Dutch and French is desirable.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and communication skills.
- Proactive and able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Flexibility, strong adaptation skills and multitasking in a potentially challenging environment under tight deadlines.
- Residing in the Hague
5. Conditions
- The internship is intended as a learning experience for students seeking professional development in project management and international cooperation. The internship can be concluded in partnership with the university in order for the student to receive ECTS.
- The internship will have a duration of 6 months.
- The internship will receive guidance and mentorship from the project team.
- The intern will receive a stipend of 600 euros per month (based on 38-hour working week).
