MoU signed between CILC and Kosovo Prosecutorial Council

After travelling to Pristina in late June 2019, CILC director Willem van Nieuwkerk met with Head of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), Bahri Hyseni as well as Gerrie Willems, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement aims to promote an independent and impartial prosecution system through advanced media cooperation and increased administrative capacity and efficiency of the KPC. During the meeting, chairperson Mr. Hyseni thanked the Ambassador of the Netherlands and CILC for the continued engagement and support provided to the KPC in strengthening the mechanisms that contribute to more integrity, professionalism, transparency and independence of the prosecution system. The Memorandum forms the legal foundation for both partners to continue their collaboration through a new project “Support to an Independent, Professional and Prosecutorial System” financed by the Netherlands Matra programme. The project will last for twenty months and the first activities are planned for September 2019.
