The Hague // Mayor Jan van Zanen receives CILC delegation from Albania

On 28 October 2021, the Mayor of The Hague received the first delegation that visited the Netherlands in the framework of a CILC project since the start of the pandemic. High ranking officials from Albania flew in for the ceremonial opening of the Albanian desk at EUROJUST – the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation that resides in The Hague. The day before the ceremony, the Mayor of The Hague met the Albanian delegation at his Town Hall, where he spoke about the relevance of international cooperation in criminal justice. Mayor Jan van Zanen welcomed Ms. Fatjona Memcaj, the first Albanian Liaison Prosecutor to EUROJUST, to The Hague. Ms Memcaj replied that she is delighted to be here and she added that she is looking very much forward to living in this ‘city of Peace and Justice’ for the next couple of years.

The visit of the Albanian delegation to The Hague was organised in the framework of the IPA2019 project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans. The visiting program was closely coordinated with the Albanian Ambassador to the Netherlands, H.E. Ms. Adia Sakiqi and her team.
