Croatia // Delegation informed on HRM in Dutch civil service

From Monday 17 till Thursday 20 December CILC organized a study visit for a delegation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia. The goal of this practical three-day visit was to provide insight in the Human Resource Management (HRM) system of the Dutch civil service.

Together with member state project leader Mr. Jacques Mulders and CILC project manager Lino Brosius the Croatian experts visited the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice, the Dutch Prison Services, the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, and the Dutch Institute of Public Administration ROI. The role of HRM in these Ministries, the use of management competencies in selection and recruitment processes and monitoring of performance, and coaching, training and education of civil servants were high on the agenda.

On Wednesday 19 December the delegation paid a visit to the Croatian Embassy in The Hague to debrief H.E. Ambassador Mrđen Korać, Counsellor Mr. Luka Alerić, and Third Secretary Ms. Nelija Vržina on the study visit and its results.

This study visit is part of the Twinning Light Project Strengthening the administrative capacities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia that CILC implements together with the Croatian Ministry of Justice. Next steps in the project are the delivery of trainings on the use of a managerial competency model that was specifically drafted for the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia, the strengthening of the HRM system of this Ministry and training and coaching of Ministry staff.

This project is financed under the European Union IPA 2009 Programme for Croatia.
