Naples // Counter Criminality Awards Conference

“International police cooperation remains of crucial importance when fighting organized crime”

At the ‘Counter Criminality Awards Conference’, held in Naples on 31st of January 2020, the chiefs of the Albanian, Bosnian, Kosovar, Macedonian, Montenegrin and Italian police forces, as well as the respective vice-ministers of interior, met with high level representatives of international organizations like the executive director of Europol, the secretary-general of Interpol, the secretary-general of the PCC SEE, directors and unit heads of UNODC, SELEC, FRONTEX and OSCE in order to discuss the state of play in the international police cooperation between the Western Balkans countries and the European Union member states and beyond. It was concluded that challenges remain huge and a more efficient use of existing cooperation tools as well as more coordination between all efforts are needed.

At the end of the conference different police officers from Italy and the countries of the Western Balkans were awarded for outstanding investigative work. The award to the most outstanding investigative work in Kosovo was presented by the Management Team of the IPA2017 project ‘Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans’.  A more detailed report of the conference, including its introductory movie can be found below here.
