PhD student defends thesis succesfully

Countries:

The Nuffic funded 5-year project ‘Strengthening the Law Faculties of the Kigali Independent University (ULK) and the National University of Rwanda (NUR)’ was closed in August 2010. This does not mean, however, that all project activities have already come to an end.

A number of PhD candidates from the two Rwandan universities are still in the process of writing and finalizing their PhD thesis at several universities in Europe (the Netherlands and Ireland). Recently, on September 26, Aimé Karimunda, who is a lecturer at the Law Faculty, Kigali Independent University (ULK) graduated ‘with no corrections’ at the University of Galway in Ireland, with his PhD thesis on the death penalty in Africa. We congratulate Aimé with this major achievement and we hope he will be able to further contribute to the strengthening of the rule of law in his country.
